On Saturday mornings Robb usually goes fishing and this past Saturday was no different. He got up very early (before the sun came up) and went to his fishing spot. Over the course of 4 hours, Robb caught a total of 14 crappie that were keepers (over 10 inches). He gave 2 of them to his friend that came fishing with him, and he kept the remaining 12. Two of the crappie were at least 14 inches, which makes them TARP crappie (Tennessee Angler Recognition Program). So once Robb submits them to TWRA, he will get certificates for catching them.
Luckily this time when he brought them home they were already dead, so I sat outside with him and watched him cut up the fish. We got a total of 3 small freezer bags full of crappie fillets. I am excited to fry them up and see how they are, I have heard crappie is pretty good. At least if we are ever broke, I know Robb can go out and catch us a free dinner!
