Finally, Updates

So, I find it hard to write now that I have an infant in the house again and Baylee being out for summer break. The boys take their naps around 1pm and are down for about 2 hours. During this time, I try to do my mid-day cleaning/laundry, talk with Baylee and do a little school work, eat my lunch, and usually get on the computer for a minute. But if the baby is awake, all my nap plans go down the drain, and I try to spend time with Norah. She still sleeps a lot, so most days go as planned. I guess I will start with the updates on the kids:

Baylee: When school let out, she was sad that it was summer break. She wants to be in school so bad. So I bought her a couple of first grade workbooks and we are already working on some of these concepts. She loves to learn, so why not go ahead and teach her some of the things that she will be learning in the first grade.

Ryan: Ryan will be 4 in 3 months and we just found out that he has been accepted into the pre-kindergarten program at the school that Baylee goes to. I think Ryan could really use the structure and I am so glad that he is going to get it. His personality demands scheduling, he is most happy when every minute of his day is allotted. This is a little hard for me because although I like to have times for naptime, bedtime, bathtime, and lunchtime, thats about all I can manage. I have grand plans of the kids doing public school until about 2nd or 3rd grade and then bringing them home for school, but we'll see how that pans out. Maybe the scheduling of school will rub off on me by then. Getting off track... updates Abbey...

Jacob: Is turning 2 in 2 months, and he is totally in the terrible twos already. However, I don't mind the 2's so much, they are more or less filled with stubborn behavior and a battle of wills. I have a pretty strong will, so I usually win. It's when they get 3 that it gets complicated. But I won't jump the gun. Jacob was showing an intrest in going to the potty, by pulling at his diaper and such, so we bought him a potty. Eventhough I know he is not ready, I like them to get the idea of what they will be doing in the many months to follow. He has pee'd once in the potty, so that made it a good opportunity for praise, bribery, and the potty dance. But since that day, he seems to care less and less about using the potty. We'll get it soon enough, he is still trying to adjust with not being the baby.

Norah: She just went for her 2 month check-up the other day and she is obviously doing well on breastmilk! She was already 13lbs. 10oz. and 23 1/4 inches. We have been battling thrush on and off for the past 2 months, so the doctor gave me some extra tips, and assured me that soon enough her immune system will kick in and her body will be able to fight off all the extra yeast. Anyway, she is just beautiful and we are all just delighted to have her. I am trying to soak it all up since she is my last :::tears::: ;( I really believe that some women were just meant to have lotsa babies. And eventhough I do still believe in submitting, it's hard thinking about this pregnancy/birth/babies season of my life being over forever in a few short months.

Anyway, I am committing to myself to blog more so every so often I can print this off and save it for my kids. I think it would be something that they would cherish once they are older. And I am sure it will be helpful when they are parents of their own, even if it is just something they can relate to as a parent.

I love the updates on the kids!

Whohoo for Baylee wanting to keep up with her school work. And another whohoo for you even thinking about homeschool. I think it would be the hardest thing for me to do. I took a math class this summer on teaching elementary math and I still dont think I have enough of the concept to teach it. :)

Also, www.scrapblog.com is a great site where you can turn your blogs/pics into a scrapbook. I actually made Maddie one from my pregnancy and I plan on making one each year for the family.

Enjoy your day!
