My baby is now standing himself up unassisted! He has also been brave enough to take 1 step, but that's about it for now. I am sure he will be walking very soon. My baby is transitioning into a toddler... I am having some mixed emotions about this...

Tell me about it. We're following right behind you. Mia isn't brave enough to try standing alone, but she can pull up on any surface, including a sheer wall. If that were the only sign that she's leaving infancy behind, I might be more accepting...but she's trying to talk more, pointing, nodding, chattering in her little foreign language...all things that belie a little emerging independent child. At least the school bus is a few years away for these babies.
