I think that Robb and I may have found a church. Although I am trying to err on the side of caution, I think Robb was ready and willing to join yesterday. Not that I didn't feel compelled to join yesterday, I just don't want to join the church and then find out something about it that I can't get over. I have re-searched as much as I can on the internet and we have started taking a 101 class at the church, but I think that I might need to sit down and talk one on one with the man who is doing the class. I honestly don't think that they believe any different than myself, but I just want to make sure I guess.
We have been going to Clear Creek Church of Christ in Hixson. Yes, its a drive, but TOTALLY worth it. We have been going on Wednesdays and Sundays, and Robb and I are very impressed so far. The childrens program is WONDERFUL!! When you take your children to class, the same people are always there and are excited to see your babies! On Wednesdays and during Sunday school they have an hour of curriculum for all the children, even the babies (which includes Jacob!). They sing to the babies the whole time and the older children do activities. I really like that they just don't put them in a big room for two hours and let them run wild. This is especially good for Ryan, who needs that structure. He has not bitten one time, and there are a lot of children his age, so that is really great.
Another thing that I like are the people at that church. They are all so nice and they go out of their way to say hello and greet you. Its like they care about you before even meeting. They also seem like very non-judgemental people as well, which I love because we all sin and no one is exempted from that. Plus there are tons of children around the age of my kids, which means there are a lot of people my age.
I think I could go on and on about the things that I like, and I think I will. I love their reverence for the bible and their commitment to being the people that God wants them to be. I have never been to a church where the congragation felt as unified as this one. It seems like they are working together for Christ. There are so many different ways to get involved in the church because they have so much going on and for every age group. It is a very active church that is dedicated to helping in the community and among its own members. They are also in a bit of a transition. They are about to move to a new location on Hixson Pike by the Holiday Bowl. A new church building is very exciting.
Two last things that are just merely a plus:
1: They have an actual nursing room! Yay for me since I get shy sometimes.
2: They are more than willing to change cloth diapers! Which is great because there are times when we just don't have any disposables.
Anyway, I am very excited about this church if you can't already tell. Its almost as God has been telling me to go to this church for a while now, and I am just now listening. I have always dismissed the idea because of my mis-concieved notions and saying that I am not "Church of Christ". But in all actuality, I just may be that very thing.
