First month results in!

Let me start by going back.  Back to January 1st.  Robb and I made New Years resolutions to get healthy in 2014 and drop the extra weight.  For me, that "extra" weight was about 40lbs. That was my initial goal anyway, and then I would reassess after I lost that.  I can't really remember how much I weighed when Robb and I met, but I would like to look like that again.  I gained 70lbs with my pregnancy with my 1st child and have never been able to get that full amount off. Lost all the weight I gained with my other pregnancies, but that 1st pregnancy weight never left.

January... No more babies, no more excuses, I was 5' 9" and 210lbs.  So I started out with a 10 day juice fast to cleanse and kick start my weight loss.  I lost 10lbs in those 10 days and then another 6lbs the rest of January counting my calories and exercising 4-5 days a week at the gym.  I had good results that month, mostly helped by my juice fast.  I loved how I felt during and after the fast but I didn't so much like the feeling of not chewing and eating.  So January 2014: 194lbs  DOWN 16lbs.

February.... Started off the month still calorie counting and exercising 4-5 days a week.  Got frustrated about midway through the month with constantly counting every calorie, so I quit! It about drove me crazy and Robb was in full blown obsession mode with it and he was driving me crazy too!  I was thinking there has to be a better way to control my food intake without analyzing every little thing.  So after I quit counting calories I kept a mindful eye about what I was eating and thought I was doing good.  Obviously NOT!  The month of February I gained back 4lbs!  Yes, GAINED!  Yes it was my birthday month, but seriously, I couldn't even maintain during 1 or 2 nights of going out to dinner?!  I was so frustrated and Robb kept loosing so I was thinking I would just go back to counting calories.  But I so didn't want to do that!!  So February 2014: 198lbs GAINED 4lbs  Down 12lbs

March... My month started out the same but I was looking for something, I just didn't know what. Thought about doing another juice fast, or just drinking 2 protein shakes a day and a sensible dinner... all things I had done before and gotten results, but the weight always came back.  I had heard from a few friends who had read this book called Trim Healthy Mama, really liked it, lost lots of weight and felt great doing it.  My interest was peaked but honestly, it almost seemed weird and cult-ish.   I read up a little about it on the internet and decided to take the plunge... what could it hurt?! I had tried everything else, lets just add something else to the collection.  Anyway, I convinced a friend to try it with me and she consented, so we ordered our book and got started!  I also managed to convince Robb to give me 2 weeks of not calorie counting (and driving me nuts), and try this Trim Healthy Mama with me.  Even though he was hesitant, and not a mama obviously, he agreed and we got started on March 6th.  I don't want to go into all the logistics about it here because it would take too long and the book is really really worth reading.  But to be brief, we were separating our fats and carbs and only giving our body 1 fuel source at a time to burn and not elevating our blood sugar past a certain point.  The point of the book which really resounded with me is that it is a life long thing, a real "lifestyle" change. With a better understanding of food and the way it affects your body, you can make wiser choices WITHOUT feeling restricted.  Unhealthy food is a part of life and we can indulge from time to time without feeling guilty, but honestly, the desire to eat junky food is not all that strong.  I EAT SO WELL on Trim Healthy Mama, that I already feel like I am "cheating" most of the time and don't really feel the need to really really cheat.  Let me give you an idea of what I've been eating:  Eggs, bacon, butter, steak, salmon, all kinds of veggies smothered in coconut oil, hamburgers, chili, pizza, chocolate cake with cream cheese icing.... SERIOUSLY!  Now I see why everyone is so weird and cult-ish about Trim Healthy Mama!  They knew what a gem they had and they just wanted to share it with the people that they love!  I have shared it already with so many people and I even bought my mother in law the book! I am one of those weird cult-ish people now! LOL

Oh my goodness!  I almost forgot to give you my March results!  No, just kidding I didn't!!  Just so you know it was a LOSS, a 12lb LOSS!  12lbs without starving myself, 12lbs without feeling restricted, 12lbs without feeling like I was on a "diet", 12lbs while eating dessert about 5 nights a week!!!  Yes, I have still exercised 4-5 days a week at the gym, but I am certainly not going at it as hard as I was.  Usually I'm only at the gym for about 45 minutes, sometimes I stay longer if I want to run further.  And thats another thing, I have come a long way with what I am physically able to do.  Never would I have thought that running 3 miles on the treadmill would not be enough or thought that I would want to get sore after a workout.  I have lots of energy and it's because my body feels nourished and lighter.

So that brings my total weight loss to 24lbs, my current weight is 186.  Only 16lbs until I hit my first goal.  I am hoping that I will hit that before I go on my mission trip at the beginning of June. That gives me two months and I think that's an attainable goal.  Even if I don't hit my goal exactly, I love THM so much, I don't care about going back to counting calories and drinking shakes. :)  Oh, and Robb stuck with me through his two weeks and I am proud to say he is a recovered calorie counter and hasn't counted 1 single calorie in a month, and still lost 14lbs.(50lbs total weight loss for him since January)! YAY! It's been real good for our marriage :)

The link to order the book his HERE.  Just so you know, I don't make any money off sharing that, I just love this book and you will too!
