New Year, More Resloutions

Ok, so here is my new blog site, to help in accomplishing all my new year's resolutions. I want to have a website that my family and friends can come to and see whats new and going on with me and my family. I will be posting pictures from places that we go and things we do, decisions we make, and generally anything that is going on in our lives. My feeling on certain subjects will be discussed from time to time when I feel like its important, so look out! There should be a time and date to when I post these blogs to give everyone a timeline, and I am pretty sure they place the newest material on top. So here it goes....

As of 1/8/08 (today), all of our family is sick, well with the exception of Robb. He actually was sick first, on Friday, and was probably the one who brought home to us. I caught it next, followed by the baby and Ryan, and then today, Baylee has come down with it. I am fighting the urge to take the kids to the doctor because I really know that its nothing serious (cause we aren't running fevers), but it's just that mama instinct to wanna make them 'all better'. Even if I was to take them to the doctor, I seriously doubt I would let the doctor give them antibiotics anyway, so whats the point? Spend $25, per kid, for the doctor to tell me that they just have a cold. A little ridiculous. But I keep forgetting that we have an absolutely wonderful doctor that pretty lets me have total control over my kids health. He is totally cool about not vaccinating them right away and always takes his time to explain what medicines he recommends for my children, why he recommends them, and any side effects. I am so weird about the drugs that I put in my kids body and I guess that stems from my 'hippish' ideal that pharmaceutical companies and the FDA don't really look out for the best interest of people, and instead, are driven completely by money. I guess I could talk forever about that, but I won't, cause I have found that the things I find interesting tend to bore others. :)

Another thing going on today, is I have decided to lend my total support to Ron Paul in the primaries and *crosses fingers* hopefully for the presidency. I think that out of the poor list of candidates this time, that he is the person that I see the most promise out of. Here is some of my background: I was raised in a VERY republican home, so I have always considered myself to be republican. But then as I got older, and sort of got a mind of my own, I really am not republican as much as I thought. I feel like I am more some where in the middle. I think most, if not all, politicians are scandalous, and time after time I have felt like all we do is vote for the lesser of two evils. And with that being said, I still like Ron Paul, but keep an open mind that if he is elected that he will probably let me down at some point. I am just hoping that its not to the extent as Bush, who has made me embarrassed to even say I voted for him. I guess what I am trying to get at is, money and power corrupts, PERIOD. I wish we could just get someone in office that was strong enough in their faith that would stick to their principles. Again, with that being said, money and power has already corrupted Hillary Clinton and that is a major reason I wouldn't vote for her. I also have my reasons why I wouldn't vote for Barak Obama, which includes voting against a bill to ban partial birth abortions and he 'unsteady' faith. It seems to me that he is just active in a church so America won't think that he is Muslim (because of his name).

I think that it is important to find what issues are really important to you and then find a candidate that is right there with you. The pressing issues that are important to me are as follows: the war in Iraq, immigration, taxes and the national debt, and education. Other things that I think are important are their stance on abortion and health care. I would also be interested if any of the candidates were to speak on vaccines and what they think of them, but I think I am just dreaming on that one. Here is what I think about some of the issues and, of course, I won't bore you with what I think about all of them.
Iraq: I feel like we need to get out, but not now. The best thing that we can do is re-evaluate why we are there and slowing start to phase out. We need to look at why we were there in the first place, if we have covered those objectives, and what the next step is.
Immigration: I think that we need to definitely need to get control of our borders and prevent people from coming into this country illegally. It is destructive to our economy to have them here illegally, leeching off free government health care and welfare. Enough said.
Education: Something needs to be done about the education system. It is getting more and more costly to send our children to public schools and for what? Out dated books and ditto sheets? Crazy. This issue is where I think Ron Paul is right on!
Abortion: I am a Christian and I believe human life begins at conception. I think abortion is wrong and doesn't solve any 'problem', but only creates more. However, I do not support a full ban of abortion because of one reason. If it is made illegal, it will happen anyway. Just as drugs are illegal, people still do them everyday. I still think that we need to protect these women from sticking coat hangers in themselves and aborting their babies anyway. But with that being said, I think there needs to better education and regulations on abortion. I do, however, fully support a ban of partial birth abortion.
And lastly, I want a Christian president that is very in touch with his faith, but still believe in separation of church and state. Ok, if you have made it this far then thanks for reading!!

I will be posting more every few days or so and I promise there will be some material and pictures about the children and not just my opinions on current events and such. Hope everyone comes and checks back!
