After slacking a little bit, we have decided to whole-heartily start looking for another church to be a part of. We have really enjoyed our time at Hixson United Methodist, but ever since we moved out here to the boonies, it's been really hard, almost impossible, for us to be really active in our church since it's a 30 minute drive. It was okay for a while because we were really busy moving, having a baby, and the holidays, but now my heart is yearning to find a church that is closer that we can be really active in again. I am just not satisfied going to church just on Sundays, I need to be a part of something during the week also.
Another reason for our delay is the fact that Ryan is a biter. This has been causing apprehension in me to find another church because of the fear that he will bite another child at a church that we are visiting. I won't lie, I am still nervous about that, but my plan is to show up to the visiting church about 15 minutes early, so I can talk to whoever is in the nursery caring for the children. I am just going to be upfront in telling them our struggles with his biting, then maybe they will be understanding and can keep an extra close eye on him. I just can't let his biting stop me anymore when it comes to finding a church.
I am excited to find a new church because with that comes many opportunities. The chance to know other people who live near us, the chance to do ministry work, and the chance to help other people in our faith community and beyond. I am ready to show God what I can do for Him on a larger scale. I remember how happy and fulfilled I felt when we still lived in Hixson and were really active in our church. I feel so distant from everything I know out here, and I am axious to have that spiritually full feeling again. I can't wait to start our journey to find our new church home.
